Relaxing ambiance, before a late night flight
Plaza Premium Lounges are a worldwide independent lounge network, which have two in Cambodia - one in Phnom Penh and the other in Siem Reap. Entry is complimentary for business and first class passengers and payable for all other travellers. I was flying from Phnom Penh airport, and was invited to visit the lounge on my late night flight to Beijing.
I had only about 45 minutes stay at this lounge, so had to hurry to get an overview of the place. I was welcomed with a traditional Cambodian greeting and pointed towards the seating areas. I was also informed that there were no flight calls, so to keep an eye on the flight information board. For a small airport, this lounge was fairly large. It was quite inviting, new and clean looking. As my flight was just past midnight (one of the last flights to depart that evening), it was very quiet and almost deserted.
The night mood lighting created a nice ambiance, and the seating areas were good, with a variety of furnishings and several quiet spots. Most of the seats also had a side table and lamp. The semi private cubicles were particularly nice and cosy, with a small table top, reading lamp, power points and USB connections, which was ideal if you wanted to work with your laptop, although you couldn't stretch out or lie down on the seat. I could not check if the WiFi worked well, as my time was short.
On one side of the lounge was also a payable massage treatment and beauty service centre. From a quick look around I deduced that there were no views of the apron or aircraft.
On the food front, the display was in three sections, the first which was unusually a bakery area, with a selection of breads, rolls, bread sticks and buns. Although not a huge choice of snacks and hot food (both western and Asian), what was on display looked appetising and fresh. But I was drawn to the last section which was a noodle bar. The chef there promptly prepared a large fish ball soup for me, that also had ho fun noodles, bean sprouts and spring onion, which was absolutely delicious.
A more conventional pub style bar, with a display of drinks against the wall, had two barmen serving both alcohol and coffee, so it was not self service. No premium brand drinks here and for Cognac, I was served brandy. For my short visit the lounge was fine and I enjoyed my stay, especially as it was not busy.
Note: photos taken here were with my phone, hence the low quality
